Start here

Soak and rinse the block, let it expand, then mix with compost for a light, water-holding medium.

Mix a handful into potting soil or spread a thin layer on top, then water. A little goes a long way.

Check the soil with a finger. Water deeply when the top layer is dry, and make sure pots drain.

Pick a pot with drainage holes, a little larger than the root ball.
